Spilling the Tea, Inc. was founded in 2024 by an African American woman with a vision. She recognized a need for more support services in the local area that served HER community. She decided to get involved. What began as a thought evolved into a dream, and is now a realiTEA!
Spilling The Tea, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization was created with focus on addressing trauma impacting African American/Black women and girls in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and the surrounding communities.
To support this underrepresented community by offering educational resources, events, and activities that address trauma-related challenges—empowering individuals to overcome barriers and reach their full potential.
At Spilling the Tea, we focus on educational and empowerment activities rooted in what we call our "trauma tree"—a framework that helps us explore and address the deep-rooted challenges caused by trauma.
We are proud of the impact we’re making in the lives of the women and girls we serve. Through our work, we aim to help them overcome obstacles, build resilience, and achieve their personal and professional goals.
Our mission is to break down trauma-related barriers that hinder growth and potential. We remain deeply committed to this transformative work and to creating lasting change in our communities.

Let's grow together!

To connect African American/Black women and girls with educational resources that address trauma-related barriers to wellness and financial success.

According to the National Institutes of Health, heart disease is the #1 killer of Black women, and stroke is the #3 killer. African American women develop high blood pressure earlier in life and have higher average blood pressures compared with other women.
According to a 2022 study by the National Institutes of Health, it states that “Black women living in Prince George’s (PG) County, Maryland, have high rates of overweight and obesity. Obesity significantly impacts Black women, leading to poor physical and mental health, decreased social well-being, and a financial strain on the healthcare system."

Studies show that
Black women experience financial abuse when actions or policies conflate their inherent value with their monetary net worth and disregard present and past experiences of financial oppression and harm.

At Spilling the Tea, our philosophy is that everyone deserves access to quality community support services. We approach each person with compassion, respect, and empathy, and are dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming environment for all.

We are committed to creating sustainable, positive social impact by investing in the communities we serve. Through the collective talents of our board members, dedicated volunteers, and strategic partnerships, we position our organization for long-term operational excellence and meaningful change.

As we focus on Breast Cancer Awareness month, STT understands the impact on our communities. The National Institute of Health’s Office of Research on Women’s Health published a brochure indicating that Cancer is the second leading cause of death for black women, who are more likely than other women to die from breast and cervical cancers. This is usually because abnormal cells or tumors are found at a later, more advanced stage.
